Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) orgniser for Ampara Mayantha Dissanayake, the son of late Gamini Dissanayake and the brother of Naveen Dissanayake, extended his support to Opposition Common candidate General Sarath Fonseka during a rally in Ampara a short while ago.
Mayantha Dissanayake was appointed SLFP orgniser for Ampara by President Mahinda Rajapaksa some time ago. Mr. Dissanayake said that he could not work together with the present SLFP members and hence decided to join Sarath Fonseka to take the country forward after the Presidential election.
Mr. Dissanayake said, General Sarath Fonseka is the first War hero and will also be the first citizen of the country shortly. It is very unfortunate that the benefits following the war that was hard fought and won by the Forces headed by Gen. Sarath Fonseka who was the Army commander at that time are being not conferred on the people. Indeed, this is the main grouse and worry of the opposition common candidate Gen. Sarath Fonseka. The General clearly stated that he won the war not to benefit just one family or to encourage corruption of the rulers by selling the war victory or to stoke nepotism and lawlessness in the country.
