  4. Thank you Susil, you have made a very important comment. Sri Lanka needs a statesman and not a gutter politician who is unable to respect other human beings, esp other fellow politicians. The leaders who are backing SF had their chance and did more harm than good. Esp with the LTTE issue.

I don’t think SF is the answer. He is backed by another set of self servers and SF himself is not squeaky clean either. The end result would be the stalling of whatever development that is taking place and an attempt to re-invent the wheel so to say, so that fresh deals could be struck to fill the pockets of the new set of rulers.

I am not saying that MR or his clan are saints but I think SL has witnessed enough change and she has never had the chance to carry through some decent work started by a politician. Our politicians PA or UNP or whoever are mostly self servers. With all the corruption MR is supposed to advocate, he is the only one with balls who stood up to international pressure and wiped our the curse that we have had for so long. Those who are now gunning for power using people like SF had their chances and all they did was strengthen the LTTE. SF was able to do a good job because he was allowed to do what he is very good at. That does not make him a good politician.

To answer a question on development at what cost.. well, with the political and social fabric of SL, development will be at a massive cost, irrespective of the political party in power. I don’t think there is a way out. Unless, unless there is a Lee Kuan Yew hiding somewhere and takes over. I do not think that SF is the man. He is not a statesman esp after seeing him at interviews. He is another gutter politician and lacks discipline with finesse.

As for looking after your own family, that too is ingrained in our social fabric. We have witnessed an increase of this with every change. Same can be said about the size of the cabinet. The criticism comes only when in opposition and when in power they to one up on the previous. These are realities we have to accept. Most politicians are spoilt by the people themselves. Just like the Maha Sangha. They ask for meat and we give it, they ask for luxury cars and we give it and then we scream foul, they are corrupt.

We offer bribes to get things done, suck up to these so called rouges to get business favours and we are people who feed these politicians with all the crap. Now these bad habits are ingrained. If Sri Lankans want honest politicians, stop feeding them.

I hope Sri Lankans living in SL will make a sensible decision and not elect a President who is a threat to the sovereignty of the country with all the agreements entered into with TNA and let the current regime continue but stop feeding them what is bad for them and the country. Last time it was Jayalath Jayawardena and this time Sarath Fonseka.

Buddhika, I don’t think you want to contribute anything to the country. Perhaps contribute something to yourself and may be get power as a politician. Above all don’t tarnish your name for being a traitor. If you really want to serve the country you can do that without trying destroy all we have achieved as a nation sacrificing so many youth, Tamil and Sinhala.

    1. As you correctly said we sacrificed lives to win the war. Now we are sacrificing the country’s wealth to make the Raja clan ultra-rich. We are also sacrificing the freedom of media for their false propaganda and giving into their thugs. If & when MR wins what els we will have to sacrifice for the clan? Isn’t it time that we stopped the unnecessary sacrifices. Just think, why did MR want an election now, when he has 2 more good years to enjoy the “Kingship”? Isn’t he asking another sacrifice from us there?

      1. Well Mr Absent Minded, Do you seriously think that SF or those who are backing him are going to make a difference? They will only stall whatever development that is taking place and re-engineer everything so that the funds are directed towards their pockets. We have see enough of this. For what it is worth MR has done the greatest deed of all and I personally would like to see him finish the major projects he has started and also the dialogue he is having with India to save our motherland from more terror. I do not want another UNP blunder of sleeping with dogs and ending up with ticks (makko). It is unfortunate that we do not have a decent opposition who can think beyond the length of their hands. Look around a see who is supporting the UNP. It is sponsored by the Colombo 7 lot who know nothing about the average Sri Lankan.

Let MR make money. At least he is doing some work for the country. If it is not MR it will be another set of politicians and that is the only difference. With MR the sovereignty of the country will be safe and with SF it will be governed by Norway or some other LTTE backed foreign power.

    2. Majority will not agree with you.Remember TNA was with the government all the time.MR is the one who has something with LTTE ‘cos all LTTErs,except Prabakaran, are friend with him.

    3. Hi Jayantha
While having murderers in high positions in your party(Karuna) and pointing a finger at others(TNA),shows your bankrupt policies, when two communities are trying to get together to sort out issues we have had in the past, please do not hinder this by trying to promote your favourites.Think of the country and grow up please.
Well done Buddhika, you called a spade a spade.

      1. Well said surajith, Its time to forget the past start a fresh begining by joining hands together and putting country first before the rest.

    4. Buddika pathirana is a well educated graduate who minds his word and he has shown his honesty by practice. Please shed blind loyalties. Look present regime robbing our country. “Maganaguma” project grant highest bidder to do road 120 million/km he the give it to subcontract it for 35 million/km. 85 million/km your and my money is in that person’s pocket.Flyover construction too has similarly looted. I may sight 100’s of true corruptions. We need a change for a disciplined society. Not chase someone or bring somebody. Yes MR did good work in winning war we are regretful to him like in building house, he has done fine masonry but mason cant do the roof only carpenter can do it. If mason builds the roof the collapse it on your head is definite. We believe SF is the best carpenter to make sure roof.

    5. Jayantha,
You are an example of a misguided and misinformed public in SL.MR and gang is the most currupted we have seen. There is no law and order/decipline and respect in the country. This has reflected by the way he conducted his campaign inspite of supreme court and election com.rulings. Its a disgrace and shame to be called a Sri lankan with the society this monster is creating. just look at the henchmen and highrache around him. Can you expect him to be better? There is no doubt he deserves some credit for standing upto western hindrance against war and not interfereing with forces but one should remember its the forces (mainly tha SL army) who won the war on the ground.
MR is not the man to take SL to next level bearing in mind his track record on economy/curruption/ law & order.

  5. Sadde witharai.. at the end only words.. guys need lot of knowledge. popular speeches for balcony. What you do to country cannot measure from words.

    1. Yes machung, Ask all all your polititians to shut up, cos “what you do to country can not measure from words”.

      1. Kanthaka,

We cant ask any one to shut up and don’t want to.And it is not democratic request. only way you can eliminate them by vote. . even buddhika have right to say and it is we who should understand. Did Obama/MaCain made any speech like this. Never and they are disciplined and people are wise.Education matters most. Maturity matters a lot. Any joker can tell lot of jokes and end of the day only entertainment. but speeches like mahatheer mohomad enlighten people and everyone will remember and remind in the wise peoples hart.

  6. Agree with what Jayantha above has written. We are Sri lankans and as such should be prepaired to accept corruption. Regards the speech I am sure most of us will be happy to give one to Anarkali if she is agreeable. She is an experienced girl from UK so dont worry about people enjoying her. Look at the big picture and remeber that there are lot of foreign orgs trying to get in with their agendas through SF and the goons. Decesion is yours the people who live in Sri Lanka. The question is are you ready to put up with corruption and let the country consolidate what has been achieved OR do you want to take the risk of loosing democracey for some time and or let foreign powers dictate to us through their goons. Good luck

  7. Think before open your mouth..
    You made this speech because Mahinda lead to win terrorism;
    you became mp because Mahinda implemented democrecy;
    you move your ass here and there because Mahinda chased the LTTE suiside squeds forever;
Mahinda Rajapaksa win the presidence because he is a true and committed leader…

    1. Hey, Hey, Hey…Buddy,

Mahinda won the war with the help of Sarath. Democracy from Mahinda? My foot. Ask about the suicide squads from Emil Kanthan. He will tell you how they escaped out of the country. Of course MR is the committed leader to the Raja Company unlimited.

    2. lol..we were able to move our asses before as well..not like we had great difficulty in doing that..jz bcz mahinda did the talking, u cannot simply say that the real war heroes, our beloved soldiers did nothing!! have respect for them dude!!! it’s not mahinda or any of his gangsters who defeated terrorism..& simply because terrorism is swept away doesn’t mean that there’s peace in the country!! sad to say that he is a total failure when it comes to the economic aspect!! One thing he is good at is marketing! btw he is a good actor too!!

  8. Any one who watched or listened to this gem of a speach , will be reminded of the speach Brok Obama gave as a new senator at the party convention 3 years ago , this guy is the sinhalease version of it .

May god bless him in becoming a future president of my beloverd country – SRI LANKA.

Sri Lanka deserves more such people like this to silence people like mervin Silva and Wimal weerawanse

  9. What a fantastic young orator. I hope that all what has been said would be followed-up by action. Then, it would be the real winner for the common people of Sri Lanka.

  10. My namesake Jayantha is right, but it has come to a stage when the unknown devil in the form of Sarath Fonseka appears to be better than the known devil Rajapakse.

Someone asked development at what cost? This is a serious question.

The biggest problem we have in the country is BAD politics. We need democracy, but TRUE democracy, not the kind that has been changed and corrupted over the past 50 years – I would say starting from JR Jayawardena’s time.

If you people are interested in something that will work, have a look at http://serendib.heliohost.org

  11. Jayantha,

I am on your side and fully agree with your analysis of events. SF cannot be trusted primarily because he is running on the premise that corruption under MR will be eliminated but it appears that daily we are finding corruption from SF himself. That is so deceiptful and I hope the people ralise that SF is nothing but a hoax and like you said, we cannot take a chance with him.

MR is no saint himself BUT he is the first politician to erradicate the LTTE and shun the West when they tried to pressure him. People can travel anywhere in the island now without fear and that to me is a dream come true. He deserves another full term and then lets see where we are, but remember how corrupt ALL our politicians were in the past, so please refrain from blaming MR alone.

The unknown devil has no experience whatsoever!!!! How can anyone think that he can run an entire country???? Just because he was a great Army Commander? Only in Sri Lanka I will sadly say. Wake up people and Buddhika, I am dissapointed you think this way and I only hope there is no ulterior motive with you. 🙂

Give MR a chance and lets see where he takes us!!!!!

    1. Well, he may take us to the levels of Somalia(economic) & levels of Sudan (where there is no freedom) above all he will take us to the GRAVEYARD more earlier than we are supposed to!!!! MR IS TOTAL FAILURE!! WE NEED THE CHANGE AND A REAL HERO WHO PROVED IN THE WAR!! AND NOW THE WAR IS WITH KARUN’S GUNMEN, WE NEED SARATH FONSEKA BEFORE KARUNA TURNS INTO ANOTHER PRABHAKARAN!! CAN U MR’S PROVE THAT KARUNA WILL ENTER PRABHA’S PATH, BEACUSE HE IS FROM THE SAME HIVE!! GENERAL WILL CHASE THESE HUNMEN INCLUDING MORVIN OUTTA THIS COUNTRY!! THIS IS THE LAST CHANCE, IF WE MISS THIS, THERE WILL BE NO HOPE!! ALTOGETHER NO ONE TO CORRECT MR AND THE POLITICS!!!! LET GOD PROTECT SRI LANKA BY THE WAY OF SF!!!!

  12. Thanks Gihan and my name sake Jayantha,

This is exacly my point. We(Sri Lankans)ourselves are responsible for spoiling our politicians. We offer bribes, santhosams to get favours. Favours to carry our drug running, win tenders that are way above the norm, smuggling etc etc. They are never critisised for wrong doing. The businessmen(most of them) in SL are responsible for this behaviour since they are the people who can afford large payouts in cash and in kind. I am not talking about the Pot of curd and honey taken as a mark of appreciation. This practise of big payouts have to stop otherwise you run the risk of making even an honestv politician dishonest. Human temptation is so great that people lose their ethics when they see money and other forms of pleasure.

This why I took the analogy of clergy. We commit the sin of making the clergy dusseela or sinful by tempting them with various pleasures. Afterall they are human like you and I.

I get disgusted when I see people like Buddhika who have the gift of the gab preaching the high road.We have seen these speeches by almost all the politicians in the past and almost all of them have taken the people for a ride and the sad part is we have repeatedly allowed them to do that. What bothered me even more is when I heard about LTTE funds being pumped to fund the SF campaign. This is quite possible or else from where can SF get so much money to buy people? LTTE is a very rich organisation. They had fund raising programmes in US and Canada where they collected a dollar a day from every tamil plus larger sums from Businessmen. They still own and operate 14 ships. The UNP unfortunately let the country down very badly by their dealings with LTTE and it looks as if they are repeating it.

We have failed to take a futuristic stance and reform our behaviour but work on short term business gains. Businessmen do not realise the perils of promoting drugs, the damage they do by coaxing politicians to make wrong decisions, ie by influencing tender processors etc. All because of money in the short term.

As you rightly say, Mahinda R is perhaps the only politician who has delievered what he promised to deliver and he deserves to win this so that he can carry out what he has started. He has to deal with the same set of corrupt politicians and public servants(not all of them of course). It is up to the people to guide him and give him the message about non-corrupt governance by refusing to stoop to bribes etc. Initially some will loose out but if evey business does that, I am sure we can build a near equal playing field for business and sharing opportunities and resources.

I sincerly hope and pray the Sri Lankans make a prudent decision and not get carried away with short term gains or support a personal vandetta of the General.

    1. Jayantha

Don’t You get Disgusted with people like Dr.Mervyn Silva.I’am sure as a right thinking man you would like to see the back back of such people which certainty MR would not do.Only SF will.

  13. Fonseka’s Contingency Plan-2, to take over the country is ready

    Sarath Fonseka & Somawansa

In case Sarath Fonseka is defeated in the forthcoming Presidential election, there is a plan to take over the country by force, it is reliably learnt. The Contingency Plan – 2, that has now come to the fore, is to be put into operation just immediately after the elections results are announced on 27th January 2010, reliable sources say.

According to the plan -2, faithful soldiers are to surround the Temple Trees, the official residence of President Mahinda Rajapaksa, arrest the President and take him to a secret hideout. Also the plan includes a move to arrest and mercilessly kill Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Defence Secretary and other members of the President’s family.

Once the country is taken over in a bloody coup, those Army Attaches who are posted in several Sri Lankan Embassies overseas will assume position as Country’s Ambassadors and negotiate with America and European Union countries for the recognition of the new regime that took over the country.

As prelude to the bloody take over report emerging out of Colombo, it is revealed that Janatha Vimukthi Perumuna, the Marxist oriented pro-Sinhalese party has completed the first round of the house to house campaign in support of Sarath Fonseka’s candidature on one side and also gauged those who remain confidential to him, by meeting the retired Army soldiers, deserters, volunteer force members and one third of the regular soldiers.

It is learnt that retired Army personnel namely ex Colonel Kapila Ratnayake, Major General (retd.) Wijendra, Colonel (retd.) Gunaratne are working hand-in-hand with JVP to convince the former and present Army people to support Sarath Fonseka.

Sarath Fonseka, in his last days as the Army Commander, it is a well known fact to all those in the Army, that he was planning to take over the country, but when the Government sensed his secret plan, they removed him from the powerful position as the Sri Lankan Army Commander and posted him as the Chief of Defence Staff – a toothless position where he did not have any clout over the regular soldiers. Also the President in his capacity as Commander in Chief and Minister of Defence moved out all those Fonseka’s men who were placed in strategic position in the Army hierarchy in case he was ready to take over the country.

Knowing that his plan to take over the country suddenly fizzled out, he started negotiating with the opposition leaders – initially with Mangala Samaraweera and followed it by, Somwansa Amerasinghe, Ranil Wickremasinghe, Mano Ganesan, and also with R. Sampanthan who is the Parliamentary Group leader of the LTTE’s political formation, the TNA and others and finally he managed to become the common Presidential Candidate in the forthcoming Presidential election.

Somawansa Amarasinghe was eagerly awaiting for an opportunity to go closer with the Army leaders as they have miserably failed in their 1971 as well as 1988-89 insurrections to take over the country due to the stiffest resistance put forward by the Army.

As the long awaited opportunity arrived, JVP got closer to Sarath Fonseka and their plan was not to get any ministerial slots or any other position as Executive Prime Ministership. They have something more than what other opposition Party leaders were after.

Sizing the mood of the JVP leadership, Sarath Fonseka gave a CD where he had all name, addresses and family details of all those retired, volunteers, and regular members of the armed forces.

The leaders of the JVP have managed to meet nearly 100,000 of the retired Army soldiers and their family members, 70, 000 volunteer forces and their family members, more than 20,000 army deserters and their family members and about one third of the regular forces members of total 130,000 soldiers belonging to the regular force.

After the first round of interaction, more than 2,000 former and present Army soldiers are earmarked as most confidential soldiers and will do anything to put Fonseka as the head of the country.

It is learnt that Sarath Fonseka is mapping out his contingency plan to take over the country, while the JVP, the experience masters in insurrection are mapping out their own plans.

  14. What comparison can you make Buddhika and Mervin. Whole problem is when you get paid to write something You forget about the principles.

This is typical srilankan attitude(common) that you do not see the reality when you lick somebody’s leg.. just like jayantha.

  15. Thanks Chandike, Someone has to clean public toilets and is good public service. There is nothing degrading about workinbg for the CMC my friend!!

    1. Jayantha,
You got it correct. That is why I said it is more respectable you to work in CMC rather than waste your time writing pages and pages in the web. If you are there at least you will be environment friendly. You are ideal for discarded items. Can not recycle.

  16. Jayantha, you seems to have very little experience about politics,in our villages thugs are fighting without knowing what is happenning inthe political world.People like you, are just waisting our time, please dont write nonnsence like this.

  17. “KOPAMANA GUNA KALATH DUDANO NOWETHI YAHAPATH”

This is what I have to say.I don’t know these people have brains. There are no difference between him and donkeys.
I they may have drunk milk from their mothers. These people don’t get the blame but their mothers…..

  18. Dilip,

Thugs have been there all the times.I think you all guys seem to be thugs.I am also from Matara.Don’t forget 89-91.I know a lot of people had been severely punished by UNP thugs. Not only that they have cut their hands. If you are not sure, come to hospital I can show hospital records and then let’s go to respective people to ask who cut their hands. This is the truth.Tap your bum and ask……..

    1. Sunil

I’am also from Matara. You are talking about history 20 odd years back and still trying propagate thuggery. What you have to remember is that your beloved leader is still promoting thuggery as even to day one house of a opposition member was bombed this morning,in Nawala, just because he supports SF.Is this the culture that you want for your children.

  19. WHATEVER, WE NEED SF TO PROTECT OUR COUNTRY!!

Now, we say that LTTE is over, but now we have 2 LTTE’rs in the government, can government prove that they are clean, so why do they need about more than 100 STF’s or why are there above 1000 Gunmens carrying GUns, and kill innocent people. My dear fellow friends, this is what has happenned in the past, Premadasa did the same, he kept Prabha as a pet, and atlast what happenned?, the same thing is what MR is doing, and one day this TIGERS will turn Traitors, and form into a ruthless terrorists, if they have any disputes with MR, and kill the innocent irrespective of race, and a new General like SF shall be born to defeat that terrorists. Therefore Prevention is better than the cure. SF has promised that these KARUNA & PILLIYAN’s group will be disarmed, put to rehabiliation and will be change, and take legal actions against these terrorists. Therefore we need a prevention, and that is OUR SARATH FONSEKA… VOTE FOR HANSEYA AND PROVE YOU PATRITISM TOWARDS OUR MOTHER SRI LANKA……..

  20. Jayantha is one the best stupid supporter of MR. He doesn’t mid robbibg our money by MR. As mentioned MR and Jayantha needs to find place at CMC.

MR has taken loans from Chaina on Commercial rates. He visited Vietnan, Burma, libiya and Iran. Non of these countries have the democracy. So anyone can imagine the roadmap of the MR.

Burma Junta who killed thousands of buddist monks was allowed to enter to Dalada Maligawa.

Former priminister of Thaland has negociated with MR to fund his election campain from the money he robbed from Thailand. Recently he visited SL.

  21. Wow.. I have ruffled a few feathers..haven’t I?

Good luck to those SF fans. You will all get what you deserve. Keep changing leaders and no development will take place. Like it or not all politicians or out to make money and SF, the puppet of Ranil, Mangala and JVP will be no different and perhaps worse as there are more empty pockets to fill. We may also need a new Parliament Building to accommodate more Ministers.

Working at the CMC, it does not matter who comes to power. My needs are minimal. It is the younger generation that I feel sorry for.

Good luck. I am sure I will have the last laugh.

Oh! one other thing. A good orator does not make a honest, efficient politician. I suppose one needs some brains and common sense to understand that.

    Keep smiling!!

    1. Very well said Jayantha, i couldn’t have put it better my self.

I urge most people in this forum to also think rationally and realistically and snap out of the dream of a pure and uncorrupted leader. Even if there was such a thing, it won’t be SF. People behind SF won’t let him.

Its easy for hormone driven teenagers and young adults to get carried away with dreams like this. But see the realistic picture there was, before various elements made ‘Corruption’ the buzz word of this country.

  22. I too agree with Jayantha and his superb analysis of the current situation. Now that the war is over , what do we need ?. A very comprehensive plan of action to carry the economy forward and not something based on a personal agenda but on a public agenda . At present what I see is that some of us are pushing hard to take revenge while the common people have to watch helplessly this ugly drama unfold.

The opposition had ample time (anyway they didn’t have to fight a war too ) to work out an effective plan of action for the growth of our economy which could be presented to the people of this country. We have seen nothing of that sort but a hastily done 10 point programme which looks more of a ” revengeful plan of action” than anything to do with the economy of Sri Lanka. If the opposition cared so much what did they do for the last 04 years ? Sleeping ? They were able to present a programme of action better than the Chinthanya and we could have judged what was best for the Economy to be taken forward. I think the Opposition woke only a month ago only to teach a lesson for someone they hate ?

Aren’t we all sick of fighting ? Now this “hate politics” has surfaced again. Whether its from the government camp or the opposition we cannot take it in anymore
and this nation needs time to heal its wounds .

As Jayantha says very correctly let us give our beloved nation a chance .

  23. And please , Genetleman dont talk about corruption, this belongs to the past, the present and for the future too. So it is a wasteful topic to talk about.

“It is said that power corrupts, but actually it’s more true that power attracts the corruptible. The sane are usually attracted by other things than power.”

    1. That is not true. There are countries hwich erticated the cioorruption. You need a honest persons only like JVP and SF.

People who has no spine to talk about the cooruption only make this type of statements

  24. Well, some people here do not seem to understand the ground situation of the country. Open up your brains as well. then you people will see what is going on beneath those big bridges, power plants and other projects being built. A country never moves forward without its general public. The truth about our country is that only a certain class and ‘raja paula’ are moving forward. Open up your brains and see what is going on with education, law enforcement and health. Open up your brains and see how meanly MR acts to retain power. He is a brilliant actor himself. But that just isn’t enough to lead a country. I don’t comment on Buddhika’s speech. It’s the way people expect. So common to see this kind of speeches being made on MR’s stages rather than those of SF’s.

  25. SF we are with you always. You are the only one who can rescue our country from the corrupt traitorous brothers, just like you did against LTTE

  26. One last comment to those who want SF to become president. Like all of you I personally don’t like Mervyn Silva or anyone who is a thug. Unfortunately, politics in Sri Lanka has become so dirty that thuggery is like their own police force. Again unfortunately, this applies to all political parties and leaders. The only exception that I know in the recent history is Mr DB Wijetunga. What I am saying is, your wish for a just society will not come by getting SF to the hot seat. Like I said before, it really does not matter to me personally, who comes to power. My time in this world is almost over it is the future generation and the great country of ours that I feel for. I know how corrupt SF is. He is damn good soldier but not an honest man. We have had Ranil in the past and I do not know where his brains are. He is a Colombo 7 man who has no understanding of the rural Sri Lankan. The JVP is also hot air. They can be very vindictive if they get power. If you are worried about the thuggery of the MR regime, then you should be even more worried about what the JVP might do. They do not have a good reputation for kindness.

I agree that Buddhika is a good orator but good orators don’t make good politicians. We have so many of them in the past and what have they done? They make their good orator skills to say more lies that are very convincing. Less words and action is what we need. A politician must be a statesman. A leader you can look up to and respect. People like late Mr Lalith Athulathmudali had both, oratorship as well as leadership. Unfortunately the LTTE gunned him down.

Go ahead call me anything. That is fine. If SF comes into power, you will remember what I have said. Unfortunately it will be too late to change things.

I may be an idealist. As I said earlier, if we want corruption to stop, we have to get all the top businessmen in Sri Lanka to stop feeding our politicians. Like anything, if you feed an animal it will continue to grow in strength, replacing it with another animal is not going to give you the right result. I do not think any of you are businessmen in SL, but they have a massive responsibility to correct the direction of SL.

By the way, I am not paid by anyone. I just want the development projects to finish under the current regime and make our country par with countries like India. Otherwise this constant infighting will drag us further down the hole.

Decision is yours. I have nothing in it for me and nothing more to say.

    1. Jayantha, what is the point of development if it does not benefit the people in this country.Try to understand that the kind of development only benefits the Rajapaksha family, which is an open secret.People really benefited by development projects of President Premadasa,Gamini Dissanayake and Lalith Athulathmudali. You as a concern citizen I must say that if ever MR wins, that will be the end of democracy in this country as it is very much evident today if you are not blind to see it.

  29. WHEN FACTS ARE AT PLAY, MYTHS SHY AWAY – A great article that appeared in LANKA RISING
The political myths plays key role in contemporary world politics that is dominated by monetary power. The Capitalist system manipulates media and marketing campaigns to artificially create surges to storm their agents into the helm of the politics. At time it is too late when people recognize the actual facts in the trance of media bubbles. Following are some of the key FACTS that those media bubbles tries to hide from your eye.

•All the patriotic political parties that actively supported fight against LTTE terrorism now back Mahinda Rajapaksa in this election. (SLFP, JHU, MEP)
•All that parties that did not actively support fight against terrorism and those parties that actively support LTTE terrorism is today firmly united to back Sarath Fonseka. (TNA, UNP, SLMC, JVP)
•LTTE’s political proxy TNA lead by R. Sampanthan supports Sarath Fonseka.
•The key Tamil politicians that support Mahinda Rajapaksa at critical time in fight against LTTE terrorism still support him. (Devanandan, Karuna, Pilliyan)
•All the key political parties that promote blood shed and terrorism/fascism in 71, 83, 88/89, 1980-2009 are united to support Sarath Fonseka (TNA, JVP, UNP) while the parties that firmly believe in democracy have rallied behind Mahinda Rajapaksa.
•The extreme capitalist party UNP and extreme Marxist-Communist party JVP supports Fonseka while moderate and national forces lead by SLFP is represented by Mahinda.
•All those political leaders that officially signed accords with Piripaharan are now supporting Fonseka. (Ranil, Hakeem)
•The pro LTTE web sites are directly or indirectly supporting UNP-TNA-JVP candidate Sarath Fonseka while none of those support Mahinda Rajapaksa. (www.tamilcanadian.com/news, http://www.tamileelamnews.com )
•The INGO media front that supported LTTE separatism in last two decades is now unconditionally supporting Sarath Fonseka. LankaRising invite the readers to check the archives (before May 18th- Our Independence day, and current) of these web sites to verify their historical support and current support. (www.lankaenews.com, http://www.beyondframe.wordpress.com, http://www.vikalpa.org)
•The printed and electronic media that unconditionally and historically supports fight against terrorism firmly supporting Mahinda Rajapaksa in this election. (The Island, Divaina, Ada Derana, Derana TV, Lakbima, Rivira, The Nation)
•Sirasa media network that was the voice of LTTE in the South is the main electronic media partner of Sarath Fonseka’s media campaign.
•None of the top and secondary level military leadership has extend (or hint) their support to the candidacy of Sarath Fonseka. In fact almost all of the key war heroes of the battlefield have directly express or hints their strong displeasure on Sarath Fonseka and extend support for the Mahinda Rajapaksa. (Admiral Karannagoda, Rear Admiral Sarath Weerasekara , Major General Shavindra Silva, Major General Prasanna Silva)
•Western media that heavily biased LTTE during its hay days now supports Sarath Fonseka by inflating his public image while criticizing Mahinda Rajapaksa policies. (BBC, The Guardian etc..)
•Almost all the artists of the country, including those who are traditional supporters of UNP, have rallied behind Mahinda Rajapaksa while Fonseka’s camp finding it difficult to pick at least few dominant characters in the field to their stage.

  30. Dear Buddhika Malli,
I used to respect you as you came from my noble profession. This is cheap politics. It is true the majority are idiots and should talk to the gallery. Do not try to be another Mervin. Try to see 20 to 25 years ahead of the time frame. Do not give oxygen to loosers. If you have nothing to do, open an dispensar and treat patients for a reasonable fee.
    REMEMBER:
AVERAGE MINDS DISCUSS OTHERS (MADA), MODERATE MINDS DISCUSS EVENTS, GREAT MINDS DISCUSS IDEAS.
GIVE SOME IDEAS TO DEVELOP THE COUNTRY. DO NOT TRY TO BE ANOTHER JOKER.

  31. Good one Hiran, It is a great pity that some do not see the wood for the trees, so to say.And also Jayasiri Seneviratna.

In an interview with Dr Rohan Gunaratna he clearly warns the perils of outvoting MR for SF, purely on the dangers associated with terrorism and SF’s association with countries like Norway and generally the west. Sri Lanka’s alignment to India and China is always an eye sore for these powers and they will do anything (in a discrete manner of course) to shift the balance to the west. People in Sri Lanka have a short memory and forget the adversity MR and his team had during the war. They get hung up on money making and power games but fail to see the bigger picture of the situation of our country. I don’t want more US or other Western influencing. MR has proved that we can progress as a country without these scheming and conniving countries like US, UK and Norway. They have created nothing but problems wherever they set foot. I am not condoning the thuggery or money making activities of MR and Co but one cannot, esp at this crucial moment, afford to throw the baby along with the bath water.

As for Buddhika there are a few who have seen through the speech made by Buddhika. It is sad that our people appreciate gutter talk ( by the comments made in this blog) and get carried away with emotional speeches and bloat about statesmanship for such people. Not appreciate actual actions of people. On the whole I am enjoying the blog as it helps me to understand the manner in which these minds work and what they value in life. It is also amazing how people have seen me as a person paid by the Govt. How people come to conclusions.

  32. Awesome speach. however as a nation we just talk about things with commitment but nothing productive happens. I remember rajapakse did similar speaches when he was a minister. see whats happing now. I just wish we get a leader who will change the srilankan mentality and bring some what disipline to this country.

  33. Well well well. Need not say anymore. Like I said, the rural Sri Lanka has spoken and not only them, even Colombo with the exception of a few electorates.

  34. These barking dogs always bitting the hand which fed. However these idiots are a curz to the country will die of a loose mortion

  35. King Mahinda WON , UNP,LTTE,JVP,TNA LOST. King Mahinda is the President in SRI LANKA forever and ever. Jayawewa Maha Rajanani,,,,,!
