Waiter’s job not bad for unemployed graduates, S B Dissanayake

Until a suitable occupation to match their skill is found it is the responsibility of the unemployed graduates to find some sort of employment without being a burden to the country or to their parents, Higher Education Minister S.B. Dissanayake said.

Speaking at a meeting held at the Ministry of Higher Education Minister Dissanayake said graduates in other countries work as waiters, cooks and labourers and they are not ashamed or embarrassed regarding their employment said the Minister of Higher Education adding that graduates in this country do not engage in such jobs due to shame.

The Minister further said the learned in the country earned money to do their doctorates and post graduate courses in foreign countries by being employed day and night and many earned for their upkeep by distributing newspapers or sweeping roads as labourers.
