Sri Lankan Tamil woman goes Court over a rape by Tamil Nadu policemen

A Sri Lankan Tamil woman has filed a petition in the Madras High Court, alleging official apathy over a complaint that three Tamil Nadu policemen had raped her daughter and her.

The woman Padmawathi has cited the internal affairs secretary, the police director general and the head of state intelligence as respondents, according to Indian media.

The three policemen had allegedly come to a refugee camp where the two had been staying on March 07 last year.

They had promised Padmawathi and her daughter an opportunity to see her husband who is in custody over a murder case.

However, they had taken the two women and allegedly raped them, threatening them with death to keep it a secret.

After they were brought back to the camp, the daughter had immersed herself in kerosene oil and set herself ablaze, and died the following day.

Padmawathi seeks an order for the conduct of a proper investigation and a Rs. 500,000 compensation. srilankamirror
