Facebook page of Subway Sri Lanka, a fast food restaurant franchise has published a post with the meaning of “Celebrate Poya day with Meat”
This is our comment about their post;
Celebrate poya day with turkey flesh? Beef? Sri Lanka is a country with 70% of buddhists. They are trying to refrain from all kind of meat during this day as a part of Pancha Sheela or five moral precepts.
But here they are playing with the emotions of the majority of Sri Lankan who loving the taste of their foods. As an international frenchise with a mission of establishing as a reputed resturent, they have a responsibility of respecting to the culture, norms, religious beliefs of that country. However they are challanging ethics openly.
Is this the way of their business ? Or Do you have a hidden agenda ? Open for the discussion !
